Controlling the degradation behavior of polymeric nanoparticles by structurally tailored thermal properties
A chemist works in the synthesis lab.

The project aims to understand the influence of the crystal structure, morphology, thermal and mechanical properties on the release mechanisms of encapsulated guest molecules. For this purpose, polyesters that vary in their degree of crystallinity and / or thermal transition temperatures will be designed while keeping the hydrophilicity constant. Detailed investigations on the thermal and mechanical properties of bare and loaded nanoparticles made from these polyesters will be directly performed in suspension to allow a direct comparison with the release kinetics of encapsulated drugs.
